British Vogue shocks with images of Gigi and Bella Hadid naked together in new issue

'This is weird, incestuous and disgusting'

Supermodel sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid are the cover stars of the March issue of British Vogue.

Out on February 2, there are two editions of the fashion magazine set to hit newsstands - one with Gigi on the cover and one with Bella.

Photographed by Steven Meisel and styled by Joe McKenna, the photos are the models’ first dual covers.

However, it’s the photoshoot of the two sisters from inside the issue that has set the most tongues wagging.

In a picture posted on Vogue’s social media accounts, Gigi and Bella are seen naked, sitting closely with one another.

However some people have commented saying the image makes them feel somewhat uncomfortable.

“This is so far from fashion rules!!” one person wrote on Instagram. “This is weird, incestuous and disgusting!! Shame on you Vogue!! What kind of messages do our girls have to understand from this cover??!”

“I don’t understand the incestuous selling point between sisters like these girls or all the Kardashians rolling around in their boy panties together for Calvin Klein,” added another. “Just weird.”

But some people defended the photo, saying: “This is getting so much hate but in the end they both look amazing.”

“Think it’s a beautiful photo,” one person wrote.

Others have criticised the image for what they expect is digital alteration of the models’ bodies.

“Would help if they actually looked like them,” one person commented on Instagram.

“Bella and Gigi are not even that skinny, they photoshopped them a lot,” added another.

“How can you photoshop such a natural beauty like Bella Hadid to the point of unrecognisable...?!!? #facepalm,” agreed another person.

This is only the fourth issue of Vogue since new editor in chief Edward Enninful took the helm, but it’s also the fourth issue to provoke criticism and debate over its cover choice.

In the December issue, the magazine was accused of lightening the skin of its cover star, Ghanaian-British model Adwoa Aboah.

The January issue featured Taylor Swift on the cover, but she wasn’t even interviewed in the magazine - there was simply a poem written by the singer.

The February issue of Vogue came under fire for its cover which read “Why we need to talk about race,” alongside a picture of white actors Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie.

The new era of Vogue is certainly proving interesting.
